We’re hiring a Resource Teacher!
Rock Spring Cooperative Preschool, a parent-run, teacher-led cooperative preschool, is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, creative, and caring Resource Teacher who is passionate about working with young children and creating a positive and nurturing learning environment.
Founded in 1943, RSCP is the oldest cooperative preschool in Arlington. The philosophy of the school is learn through play, and the Resource Teacher is responsible for supporting Lead Teachers in a teaching assistant role in the classrooms, setting up equipment and activities, and assisting with tasks around school as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Float between classrooms and school areas, helping teachers to instruct students, assisting students with toileting, and supervising the safety of children ages 18-months through 5-years old.
● Create a safe and welcoming classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development
● Establish positive relationships with children, families, and co-workers
● Set up and put away equipment on the playground and indoor play areas
● Prepare materials for activities and crafts related to the learn-through-play curriculum as directed by Lead Teachers
● Participate in professional development opportunities
● Adhere to licensing regulations for preschool teachers
The Resource Teacher will report to school 4 or 5 days per school week, Monday through Friday 9:00am-1:25pm (including the classroom instructional period of 9:15am-1:10pm), with scheduling flexibility if 4 days is desired by the candidate. The RSCP school year runs from September to early June. Additional time commitments outside of instructional school days include, but are not limited to:
● Unpack & Pack Days
● Teacher Work Days / PACT
● Staff Meetings
● Evening Membership Meetings (usually twice per year)
Qualifications:
● High School Diploma (or equivalent)
● Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
● Experience caring for young children in a classroom setting, nannying, or similar
● Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education best practices
● Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
● CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
● Ability to pass a background check
● Knowledge of the “learn through play” philosophy (preferred)
● Experience in a cooperative school or similar setting (preferred)
