RSCP currently offers four different age specific programs for one to five year olds. All classes run from 9:15 am - 12:00 noon. Though schedules vary from class to class, a typical day includes: free play, circle time, a classroom project, big muscle play, snack, and story time. The curriculum also includes special activities such as music and creative movement classes, field trips, and special visitors. Class lesson plans are distributed so that parents may participate in their children’s learning experience.

The Polar / Panda Bear Classes: One-Two Year Olds

The Polar / Panda Bear classes offer a loving and nurturing environment for children who are 18 months old by September 30th. This first introduction to preschool helps our youngest students feel secure away from home and parents, and to learn to interact with other adults and children. Parents may be asked to attend classes until their child is ready for separation.

The Bunny & Beaver Classes: Two-Three Year Olds

The Bunny and Beaver classes are open to children who are two years old by September 30. Both a two-day-per-week and a three-day-per-week program are available. Special attention is paid to fostering the children’s social awareness, and special weekly music and creative movement classes begin at this level.

The Pony and Penguin Classes: Three-Four Year Olds

The Pony and Penguin classes offer an active, learning-oriented experience for children who have turned three years old by September 30. Children are encouraged to develop a curiosity of the world around them using senses, role-playing, and performing simple experiments. Special programs and field trips enhance the children’s preschool experience.

The Dinosaur Class: Four-Five Year Olds

The Dinosaur class provides a fun and intriguing experience for our oldest Rock Spring students who have turned four years old by September 30. Students from the Pony and Penguin classes are now all together in the large Dinosaur classroom. The Dinosuar Teaching Team includes two teachers and one aide in addition to parent volunteers. The Dinosaurs play in a more structured environment to help prepare them for kindergarten.
