Rock Spring Cooperative Preschool

Rock Spring Cooperative Preschool

Applying

RSCP admits preschool aged children from 18 months to five years of age, regardless of race, color, creed, or religion, or national or ethnic origin. Children must meet the stated minimum age requirements by September 30th. Parent are also asked to consider their child’s personality and developmental stage when considering the appropriate age to begin a preschool program.

Enrollment is extended based on the following priority:

  1. Children of current members and staff
  2. Children of prior members–alumni and staff
  3. Children of members of the Rock Spring Congregational United Church of Christ
  4. All others who submit applications for membership

Priority member (preschool and church members) applicants will be kept on a waiting list in the order in which their completed paperwork is received. All other applications are kept until March 1st, when a random lottery is held for each class. Regular applicants who are not offered placement for the upcoming school year will be kept on file. Applications received between March 1st and May 31st will be kept on file in the event an opening occurs throughout the year. In the event that an opening occurs prior to or during that school year, another lottery will be held to fill the vacancy. Regular applications will not be held, however, for the following school year. Families must resubmit applications each year. No applications will be accepted between June 1st and August 31st.

Class placement decisions are made by the staff. They are based on a number of considerations including child’s age, gender, and previous school experience. Family scheduling needs are accommodated if possible when there is a choice of classes.
